2016 Call for Abstracts

Public Policy Section of the Manitoba Law Journal: Underneath the Golden Boy

Dear colleagues,

As the editor of the Public Policy Section of the Manitoba Law Journal: Underneath the Golden Boy, it is my pleasure to announce the call for abstracts for the 2016 edition of the journal. As you may be aware, the Manitoba Law Journal: Underneath the Golden Boy is an annual publication.  The Manitoba Institute for Policy Research (UM) has partnered with the Faculty of Law (UM) to produce a new section in this prestigious journal that explores public policy priorities specific to Manitoba. In the first two editions of the new section, we have published fourteen blind peer reviewed articles covering various policy areas that are important to our province.

Our next edition will be published in January 2016. Leading up to the likely April 2016 provincial election date, we want to know what you think are the most pressing public policy issues that require analysis to help inform the debate.  If you are interested in making a contribution, please email a 250 – 500 word abstract of your proposed paper before December 5, 2014 to utgb@mipr.ca.  Abstracts may explore any public policy issue facing the keystone province, but abstracts that explore the following issues are of special interest given the budgetary and public policy announcements in recent years:

Once an abstract is accepted, the following timeframe and milestones will be established:

  1. Notification of acceptance of abstract (December 12, 2014)
  2. Submission of draft manuscript for forwarding to blind peer-reviewers (8000 word limit) (May 15, 2015)
  3. Comments from blind peer-reviewers sent to authors for revision (June 23, 2015)
  4. Final manuscripts due (August 4, 2015)
  5. Publication (January 2016)

Thank you for considering working with us! If you know someone who may be interested in this opportunity, please forward this information to them. We look forward to receiving your abstracts. If you have any questions related to the submission process, please email me at Karine.levasseur@umanitoba.ca

Best,
